Tappan Zee High School


Rolando “Lindy“ Pagliaroli of New Wind sor, formerly of Pier mont, died June 17th, 2006. He was 74 years old. Lindy was born July 19, 1931 in Piermont to Francesco and Maria Pagliaroli. He graduat ed from Tappan Zee High School in Piermont. Lindy served his be loved country during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Haynsworth DD700. Upon his re turn to Piermont he worked for the Robert Gair Compnay and then Federal Paper Board un til the mill closed. Lindy also served the Village of Piermont as a Police Officer for many years. After the mill closed Lindy worked for the South Orangetown School District. On June 7th of 1998, he married Mary Huertas. As a 57 year member of the Empire Hose Co. No. 1 in Piermont, Lindy rose to the rank of Chief Driver, his pride and joy being a 1951 Peter Pirsh “13750“. He also was part of the original Dive Team which just cele brated it's 50th Anniver sary. He was a member of the Piermont VFW for many years, serving as Post Commander in the 1980's. He was also a member of the Rock land County Korean War Vets. In recent years, Lindy passed the time by fishing from his beloved Piermont Pier and the Hudson River, telling old Piermont sto ries to his grandchildren who affectionately re ferred to him as PopPop and gardening with his “honey do“, Mary. He is survived by his be loved wife Mary of New Windsor. His three sons, Dean of Tappan, Frank and his wife Linda of Tappan and Richard and his wife Kim of Sparkill, his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Pagliaroli of Blauvelt, Meaghan and Eddie Harlan, Christopher and Grace Audrey Pagliaroli, all of Tappan. His sister Mary and her husband George Voorhis of Piermont and his broth er Peter of Highland Mills and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother John “Pint“ Pagliaroli. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at St. John's Church in Piermont with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill.
