His serious pursuit of education began at Seton Hall University, receiving from there his A.A. and B.S. degrees followed by an M.A. degree in Criminal Justice from C.W. Post. In 1971 he was among the first officers in Rockland County to graduate from the FBI National Academy. To Chief Crable, the educated and thinking person was an asset to any endeavor. He organized the criminal justice program at Rockland Community College and taught there. His work included service on boards and committees effecting crime control and organized crime. Colonial Fireworks Company engrossed Bill in recent years. He was both partner and operator for great firework displays in Rockland County and beyond.
