Obituary

Charles A. Alfieri of Tappan passed away at home, on Friday, December 2, 2005 after a long illness. He was 74 years old. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean (Smith). Charles was born in Nyack and grew up in Piermont, NY. He graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1948, and after serving in the US Navy during the Korean War became a member of the Carpenters Union Local #964, until his retirement. A outstanding high school athlete, Charles always retained his love of sports, and was an avid Yankee and Jets fan. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time at his winter resort in Stuart, FL. Charles was also active in the Cub Scouts and Little League. Above all, Charles cherished spending time with his family and friends. He is also survived by his children Mark of Dallas, TX, Catherine Crable of Webster, NY, Ann Goroleski of Binghamton, NY, Stephen of Blauvelt, NY and Anthony of New York City, NY. He is survived by grandchildren Lisa and Kevin Crable; Christopher, Michael and Thomas Goroleski and Christopher Alfieri and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends who wish to call may do so on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Moritz Funeral Home, located at 98 Route 303 in Tappan, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Kings Highway in Tappan on Wednesday at 10 am, followed by burial at the Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY or Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan, NY.
