Life After Tappan ZeeLeroy Canada
After leaving T.Z, I attended Hampton University in Hampton Va. along with Jim Francis who also graduated with us. I married in 1962 and from that union there are three great children and four super grandchildren.
In 1963, I started working for a bank which later became The Bankers Trust Co though acquisition. My starting position was in the bookkeeping department as a check filer. Working my way up the ranks, I was promoted to assistant vice president and officer in charge of the loan department for the Rockland County branches. In 1970 I received an offer from another local bank that was just too good to be true. Shortly after coming on board we merged with The Bank of New York where I was elevated to vice president. This new position carried the responsible for the entire retail loan operation function. My duties included the management of installment loans, residential mortgages and the credit cards.
Over the years I became active in Rotary; various charities as well as local and town government.
During my years with the banks the real-estate market appealed to me; so I started buying, selling and renting properties. I still maintain a few rentals in Rockland County. My love to fish which dates back to the old Piermont Pier took me to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. On one of our trips to The Vineyard my cousin and I purchase a few building lots to develop later. We erected spec houses on the parcels of which I still have one for my own use.
Today, I spend as much time as possible with my Grand's, fishing, enjoying my 50's music collection and maintaining computers.
